Learn how to organize the gradebook in D2L Brightspace by creating grade items and grade categories.

The gradebook houses all the grades for any graded assignment, discussion, or quiz you create in Brightspace. While all grades can be entered from the Grade Book, it is best to use it for quick grading, grade changes, or for assignments that have no submission (e.g. attendance or participation grades). 

When you create an assignment, quiz, discussion, or other assessment in Brightspace, it doesn't automatically create a grade item in your gradebook. This video shows you how to add a new grade item and to organize your gradebook by using categories.
